Lockyer Valley Riding for the Disabled Club
Located between Brisbane and Toowoomba in South East Queensland, the fertile Lockyer Valley, often referred to as Australia’s Salad Bowl, produces some of the country’s best fruit and vegetables. And like many country areas in Australia, it produces some pretty remarkable people. Established in 2013, the Lockyer Valley Riding for the Disabled Club, offers horse riding lessons for people with a disability, in a safe and friendly environment. Staffed by a small team of volunteers, they provide experiences that can dramatically improve a persons’ quality of life through the emotional and physical benefits of riding a horse.
Having received a small grant to augment their facilities, the club contacted the Felton team regarding wheelchair-accessible furniture. After a brief review of what was achievable within their budget, the team recommended that the club purchase two Standard Wheelchair Settings. Able to accommodate two wheelchairs on one side, and up to four people on the other, this simple and economical design allows for inclusive gatherings. Manufactured from premium, Australian aluminium, the Standard Wheelchair Settings’ superior engineering features up to 20% more aluminium than alternative products. Finished with a marine-grade, anodised coating they can easily withstand even the harshest weather without any risk of rotting or splintering. Featuring Felton Industries’ patented Safety End Caps as standard, all rough edges are removed, eliminating any possibility of catching on clothing or accidental scratches.
The Standard Wheelchair Settings were a very popular edition and the club intends to apply for additional grants so that they can purchase more. We look forward to the opportunity of working with such wonderful people again.
